Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese can be one of the easiest meals to make for the family (especially when you’re having a lazy day).. I try to cook food which is both nutritious and tasty for me and the girls and this is one of those senang nak mamsss kinda meals…

Not much is needed and not much energy is put into cooking a good spagbol even when you’re cooking from scratch.. I use to be the type whom thought that food out of a can tasted better but I was wrong when I was shown just how easy it was to make a real good pasta sauce with using tomatoes from a can and not ready made pasta sauce..

First of all, prep all that is needed

a drizzle of oil (any oil will do but I usually cook with pure olive or just some normal cooking oil)
1 tray of chicken fillets – diced (I use this because I don’t want my girls to be lazy chewers and now that they’ve both past the baby food stage, minced meat is no longer necessary.)
1 medium onion – chopped
4 cloves of garlic – chopped
1 large carrot – chopped
2 cans of chopped tomatoes
about 2 tsp of dried basil
about 1 tsp of dried oregano
spaghetti (or any kind of pasta you like)

so first of all…..

it’s always nice to cook with fresh herbs and I usually do but I didn’t have any in hand at this point of time.. so if using dried herbs, it’s always best to cook them earlier to release the aroma and the flavour.. However, if cooking with fresh herbs, you could add them later in the cooking process..

I’m still hunting around for some good reasonably priced tomatoes so bare with my tomato mix.. lol

I had to learn this the hard way with the ongoing nagging I got from my mum telling me how much of a lazy cook I was.. I cook good food but have no idea how to clean after myself.. But now that I live in my own place, I have no choice but to do all of that myself.. LOL!!

now that the cleaning is done, it

now that the cleaning is done, the food would most probably be done by the time you’ve cleaned up!! but please excuse the laundry hanging up in the background 😀

not much is served for the littles as their tummies are so small so serve them just a bit first and if they want more, give them just a bit more… its better they finish their food and ask for more than serve them an adult size serving and waste it.. 🙂

grate a bit of cheese on there..

it takes a maximum of 30 mins to get all this prepped and ready on the table.. no hassle at all! And the kids absolutely LOVE IT!!
